Dublin Nightlife

The main entertainment areas in Dublin are Temple Bar, Georges Street and Camden Street. Below is a list of some of the most popular venues which are not to be missed on your trip to Dublin.

The Temple Bar Pub

Situated in the heart of Temple Bar it is consistently one of the buzziest and liveliest pubs in Dublin. This place knows what makes a good pub and is not afraid to flaunt it. Musicians often turn up and play live music without bookings or payment and everyone is welcome to join the fun. It's the perfect place for your first pint on a night out.

The Woolshed

Dublin's first southern hemisphere bar, located under the Stephens Green Shopping centre, Down Under in Major Toms is a mecca of all things Antipodean. Their most popular beers are VB, Lion Red, Castle and Crown. Lots of Aussies, Kiwis and Saffa's living in Dublin have claimed this bar as their own, loved by locals and backpackers of all ages. The relaxed Down Under vibe is well evident.

Whelans

Live music and restaurant serving food 'til late. Whelans is one of Dublin's best loved music venues, famed for its atmosphere, quality and original live music. It's a great spot for a few beers whether you're going to a gig or not. The gig area has two bars one at the back of the standing area and another upstairs with balcony space overlooking the floor below.

4 Dame Lane

Pitching itself somewhere between a DJ bar and a nightclub, Dame Lane is a two-level, New York loft-style space, popular with club kids during the week and a hip, more professional crowd at the weekend. The bar downstairs is ideal for a quiet-ish drink, while upstairs is good for an incredibly loud drink.

Button Factory

Until recently, the Button Factory was the famed Temple Bar Music Centre, one of the foremost music venues in the city. After a pricey revamp, the Button Factory is decidedly more plush and relaxed than its grungy predecessor. Now, this 1,000-capacity venue hosts a wide selection of club nights: indie to salsa to house to hip hop.
